SDS was in Burton upon Trent last week, installing a surface water attenuation tank at the new IBIS Styles design economy hotel for Carter Lauren Construction.

Scheduled to open in July the five storey hotel will comprise 81 well-appointed bedrooms, including 41 rooms with kitchen facilities designed to accommodate long stay guests. Strategically located next to the Holiday Inn Express on the two hundred acre, mixed use, ‘Centrum 100’ Business Park, and in close proximity to the town centre, the hotel will also benefit from an expanded car park, adding 29 new spaces for the convenience of guests and visitors.

The development will also result in up to 40 full time equivalent (FTE) jobs and in further construction and supply chain employment. The site is located just 200 metres away from areas recorded as being at risk of extreme flooding so the new drainage facilities have been designed to restrict surface water flows from the site to existing brownfield runoff rates, in accordance with the betterment required by Severn Trent Water. Along with a gravity connection to the public sewer, flows will be controlled and stored via the SDS-supplied Weholite flow control chamber and GEOlight® attenuation tank.

Water is a key theme that underpins the visitor experience, including the main reception area and throughout the hotel spaces.
