SDS is pleased to announce its participation in the transformative redevelopment of Plumstead College in Greenwich, for which it has supplied two crucial geo-cellular attenuation tanks, playing a key role in ensuring the new campus meets high standards of sustainability and efficiency.
This redevelopment project, a collaboration between London South East Colleges and L&Q, a charitable housing association, aims to revitalise the Greenwich campus. The proposed plans include the construction of a state-of-the-art educational facility and 294 new homes, half of which will be affordable, including 63 three-bedroom homes for families.
Dr Sam Parrett OBE, Group Principal and Chief Executive of London & South East Education Group, expressed enthusiasm about the redevelopment: “We are delighted to have submitted plans to redevelop our Greenwich Campus. This work will enable us to create training facilities that are fit for the future, helping the local economy and community by providing skills and opportunities for generations to come.”
The college currently offers over 300 career-focused courses, ranging from apprenticeships to degree-level programmes. The new campus will cater to the diverse needs of young people and adults, providing modern and flexible learning environments.
Vicky Savage, London Managing Director at L&Q, highlighted the collaborative effort: “London South East Colleges and L&Q both share deep roots in Greenwich and a core value to work with local communities – whether by improving educational outcomes or by building great homes and neighbourhoods where people can afford to live.”
The redevelopment is expected to significantly benefit the local community, particularly as it recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. By offering quality education and affordable housing, the project aims to support social mobility and economic growth in Greenwich.
